Climate Change Session at @WindTech2025
Climate Scale joins leading voices at Windtech’s Climate Variability & Change session in Istanbul

WindEurope’s Technology Workshop 2025 is fast approaching, and this year’s event in Istanbul (June 19–20) will once again spotlight the intersection of climate science and wind energy.
For the third consecutive year, Windtech dedicates a full session to Climate Variability & Climate Change, reflecting the growing awareness of long-term climate impacts on wind resource availability. This year’s session is particularly significant: three of the four presentations will be based on Climate Scale data, including use cases from DNV and Ørsted, two key players in the global energy transition.
Session Presentations & Speakers
Where is the wind gone? Low wind conditions, internal variability, and climate change.
Ana Lopez
Director, Climate Scale
Extreme wind speed modeling of the Turkish coast under changing climate conditions
Tolga Kara
PhD candidate, Istanbul Technical University
A step towards standardizing climate change impact assessment for offshore energy yield
Noah Runesson
Sustainability specialist, Ørsted
Capturing the impacts of climate change in wind energy yield assessments - case studies
Circe Triviño de la Vega
Head of Section Energy Analytics Wind Southern Europe, Middle East & Africa and Latin America, DNV
Dr. Ana Lopez, Co-Founder and Science Lead at ClimateScale, will be part of the expert panel. Her talk, titled “Where Has the Wind Gone?”, will explore the recent periods of below-average wind power generation. She will present scientific evidence on how internal climate variability and broader climate change signals affect wind resources — and what this means for energy planning and investment.
The session will be co-chaired by Gil Lizcano (Climate Scale) and Lars Landberg (DNV). Representatives from Istanbul Technical University will also contribute regional insights.
We invite you to join the session on Thursday, June 19, 11:15–12:15.
After the session, come meet the Climate Scale team for a coffee and informal chat about wind resource projections, climate risk modelling, and how our tools are helping industry leaders navigate an increasingly uncertain future.
